Introduction of UL Standard Wire And Cable

11111Figure 1

UL standard cables are wires and cables produced and inspected according to UL standards of the United States. UL is the abbreviation of underwriter's Laboratory of the United States. It is the most authoritative safety certification organization in the United States. It is also a widely recognized non-profit organization engaged in safety testing and appraisal in the world. It is also the most reliable qualified assessment provider for manufacturers.

Specification and unit:

The conductor specification of UL is AWG, which means American wire gauge in Chinese. The common UL units are "cmil" (round mils), mil is the unit of length, cmil is the unit of area, the specific use of kcmil and MCM (thousand round mils), 1mcm = 1kcmil = 0.5067 square mm. The values in front of AWG (such as 24awg and 26awg) indicate the number of holes that the wire needs to go through before forming the final diameter. (Figure 1) the larger the value is, the more holes the wire will go through and the smaller the diameter of the wire will be. In other words, the value is small and the wire is thick.

AWG is compared with metric system:

900
